The Remote East Coasters group has introduced me to some wonderful people here in Madeira and is one of the reasons I moved back to Machico from Funchal! With a weekly schedule of events to get involved in there is something for everyone and the vibe is relaxing and very welcoming. It's like a mini family! And Machico is a beautiful town with mountains all around, amazing hikes within walking distance and two beaches to choose from. I love it and am happy to call Machico my home in Madeira.

Through the community's events and activities, I've been able to explore the stunning natural beauty of the East Coast, from breathtaking hikes to relaxing days at the beach. But what truly sets Remote East Coasters apart is the sense of belonging that comes with being part of a community. Whether it's sharing a meal together or just chatting about our experiences as digital nomads, there's always a feeling of connection and support that makes me feel like I'm part of something special.

Being part of this community has also opened up new opportunities for personal and professional growth. From attending workshops on sustainability and mindfulness to collaborating on new projects with fellow members, I've been able to expand my horizons and develop new skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.

I love the Remote East Coasters community. It's a place where authentic relationships and networks are fostered, where diverse perspectives are celebrated, and where anyone who shares our core values of inclusion and sustainability is welcome with open arms.

We have the honor to be part of this beautiful community and organize the community hikes. What's more, the community's core values of inclusion and sustainability make it truly special. I highly recommend joining this if you're a digital nomad, remote worker, or just looking to connect with like-minded individuals.

As someone who spent her life living on the road, I know it's not always easy to feel at home. Sometimes, months pass, and you still don't feel like you are connected to anyone. Some communities feel a bit forced, cultish, and some feel disengaged, privileged. 
Of course, a perfect place or a perfect community will be different for everyone, but I can say that the Machico community seems to have found the ideal balance. 
It is the most genuine community I have ever encountered on my travels. 
Friendships grow organically, nothing is forced, and people aren't just focused on themselves. With the active involvement of Madeirans in our community, giving back to the local economy and helping each other out professionally, or any other way, feels simple and like second nature. 
Right off the bat, the two fantastic community managers, Dina and Tiago, are there to give you the basic info, and the colorful events and activities help you feel right at home from the start. 
I have never been anywhere where I genuinely liked everyone I met, but that is the case with REC Madeira. I can't wait to be back!
